The grand opening of the new Skyline Grill on the west edge of Benkelman will open on November 7th.    Their specialty will be steak, but the menu will have a variety of delicious choices.

They will be able to accommodate up to 120 people.  The community is looking forward to having another place to eat.

The 4th annual Haigler Fall Tumbleweed Festival was a grand day!  The weather cooperated with a picture perfect autumn day.  Haigler Elementary students had decorated many pumpkins for the festival. The wonderful long fall with its warm, sunny weather was broken Monday morning when it began to rain and the temperatures tumbled.  But the rain will be appreciated, especially because of the fire danger that had prevailed.

Early news says that alot of pasture grass was lost, but no livestock.  Will update when more news is available.

I found an old picture from when we were kids at Sanborn school. This is Mildred Workman and myself(Lloyd Smith). We were good friends and liked to ride horses together.

He fractured his right hip. He can not put any weight on it for 6 weeks.  The plan is to move him to Hillcrest on Monday and with rehab get him to where he can get out of the bed and into a wheelchair with one assist.  Then we hope he can return to Willow Ridge.

This year we will be helping Megan (Smith) Friesen with money's for her medical bills. For those of you who don't know Megan she grew up here in Wallace. She is the daughter of Jim and Cathy Smith of Wallace. She is fighting cancer and is going though treatments right now. We wish her the best of luck and are praying for her. The Collicott sisters, LaNeta, Myrna, and Galena, returned home late Friday evening.  They had spent several days in Estes Park, Colorado closing up the winter cabin.  There was still lots of snow in the mountains, and it snowed big, fluffy flakes on Friday before their return home. ever operating during my years of recolection.  I believe that Guy Smith was the last farmer to raise surgarbeets in that area.  He had property just east of Jude Lemmert's, just east of the state Can someone give me some information on the house at the top of the hill at the south end of main street, such as when was it built, who built it, how long did they live there?  The usual stuff that is in a good story.
