Doesn't anyone remember the Catholic Church in Haigler? It was across the street from the Texaco station, next door to Jim Dexter's house.
Does anyone have pictures of this church? Or know where the building went?
I don't remember who were members of that church or who their priest was, but I do remember that the church had a tall steeple with a bell in the belfry.
Memeory Help - Anyone ?
In answer to the question about the Catholic Church in Haigler. I remember the church . It was across the street from Dexter's filling station. Well I think it was gone before Dexters were in the station. I don't know where it was moved to. But I remember that Grandma Carroll had services in her house.
ReplyDeleteDaddy and I and I guess Leah stopped in to visit her one evening. She lived in a usta-be store building on Main Street about the second door south of the post office .. That was when the post office was on the corner.
Rich used to stay at the Carroll's house with their boys when they were kids. All the kids in town loved Mrs. Carroll.
I remember the Catholic Church very well. Some of the families that went were Osters, Palmers, Dale Belecha's, Bryan Carrol. The Church was moved to Benkelman after their were no longer services in Haigler.
ReplyDeleteI remember the Catholic church. I remember playing in the basement after the church was removed much more. Removing the church expanded the neighborhood play ground as they did not do anything with the basement for sometime.
ReplyDeleteThe Catholic Church was moved to Benkelman and became the Friends Church for several years. The Friends built a new church and a family renovated the church to be their home. There is a family living in the home now. It is located at 1206 A street
