  1. I have had several people ask me who Davis Farris was and I could not answer that question. I just got off the phone with Wally McKay and he answered it for me. Dave Farris parents owned a hardware store in Haigler on the west side of main street and in the early 1930's they moved to California. In 1936 Paul Freehling and Wally McKay took a trip to California in Paul's new 1936 Plymouth Coupe. They stopped at the Farris's in California and that is where the picture was taken.--Cal Freehling

  2. PS: I forgot to add that Wally also told me that Farris built the house that Grandmother Stute later lived in and is now owned by Haigler's famous JOHN BRUNSWIG.

  3. Calvin: I hardly remember the hardware store when the Farris family owned it. I sort of remember Dave Farris. He had two sisters. One, about my age, Jean, who I remember as visiting our neighbor, the Paul Kanode family. The Kanodes also had a daughter about my age. That would have been in the early 1920s. I think Perry Premer bought the store from Farris. The store was north of the Drovers and Traders State Bank. I don't know if it was just right next door or not. I am going to case main street the next time I am in town to see if I can determine just where it was. If you have other questions, feel free to ask them, although I might not be able to answer all of them. Don
