Scholarship for Graduates of Chase or Dundy County


The Herbert J. Hughes Memorial Trust will give two $500 scholarships to seniors residing in Chase or Dundy County or graduating from Imperial, Wauneta or Benkelman High Schools.
The applicants must pursue advanced education in an agriculture related field.
The scholarship is in memory of Herbert J. Hughes, who was one of the founders of the National Wheat Growers and the Chase-Dundy County Wheat Growers Association, and the Nebraska-Wyoming Wheat Growers Association.
Applications are at the schools and are due April 1.

Blanche Ellis Brown


Blanche Ellis Brown was born Jan. 21, 1932 in HaiglerNE to George and Jane (Underhill) Redden.  She passed away March 4, 2012 at the age of 80 at Hillcrest Care Center in Wray.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home, 427 Adams Street in Wray with Rev. Norman Stott officiating.

Interment will be in the Eckley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Blanche Brown Memorial Fund.

Spellman-Schmidt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
