Haigler Author - Book Release

YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW—ALWAYS A ROSE is the title of the just published book by local Haigler author, LaNeta L. Carlock. The collection of poetry and writings is about happiness and sorrow, celebrations and remembrances, dreams and realities, travels and home, life and death. Those who have read the book say the author shares her deepest feelings and thoughts with the reader. Each line comes from the heart. The book is a true love story and kaleidoscope of life.

The book cover is of a rose, and the reader will often read of the symbolic meaning of a rose and discover many a rose in the lovely colored pictures that accompany the writings. LaNeta says, “Whether a single rose stem, a bouquet of roses, or the roses in my gardens; the rose has always been special to me. Tomorrow is never promised to any of us; we should live every day as if it were our last.”

LaNeta has been writing for more than 50 years. She is a published author with McGraw-Hill Book Company, The International Society of Poets, professional magazines, and numerous other publications. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Nebraska, and had over 30 years of experience in education and business before her retirement. LaNeta and her husband Stan now live in their hometown of Haigler, Nebraska. Both were born and raised in southwest Nebraska, left after high school graduation, and returned 38 years later—in 1996. The last 16 years have been spent ‘giving back to their community’—especially the preservation and restoration of the One-Room Country Schoolhouse Museum and the development of the Cornerstone Museum in Haigler.

For more information, contact LaNeta Carlock, PO Box 144, Haigler, NE 69030-0144, 308-297-3226 or email carlock@bwtelcom.net. The 2012 Mikey Ride

The Mikey Ride will be July 21st this year with a stop in Haigler around noon as always.

You can check it out on The Mikey Ride facebook page as well as the web page http://themikeyride.com.   This year the Mikey Ride will be helping a couple  who had a baby born early at 1.2 pounds and are faced with a lot of medical bills; now as well as down the road.

The Mikey Ride is to help someone like this. Last year they were able to raise over $10,000 for a young lady with cancer.

Help from everyone will make this better than ever. There will be a free will donation and a live auction of donated items. The Maupins fed over 400 people in our yard last year at the Mikey ride.  Everyone is welcome.

The Ride begins at Mike Maupin's house in Wallace at 9:00 am on July 21, 2012.  The meal and auction will be at 5:00pm.

Thank you for your help in getting the information out there.
