WINTER HOLIDAY FESTIVAL IN HAIGLER
WHEN? Sunday, December 28, 2014, 3-5 p.m. MT.
WHERE? Cornerstone Center for Community Service, 251 East Norman Street.
WHY? It is the holiday season; our towns, homes, churches, and countrysides are aglow with bright and welcoming lights. It is the time of year when we count our blessings—and hopefully give to those less fortunate. It is busy days and nights, and lots of things to do on the lists—before Christmas.---so the Haigler Community Foundation decided to host a Winter Holiday Festival the Sunday after Christmas and before the New Year celebrations.
Everyone throughout our tri-state area is invited to make Haigler the center of your holiday activities on this date. For 2 hours, come and enjoy a small town atmosphere…filled with holiday delights and holiday memories for young and old! Our historic gymnasium will be decorated as a winter wonderland with lights, trees, and all that glitters. Take time to enjoy the festival decorations; listen to the songs and sounds of the season with a holiday musical show featuring The Calhouns of North Platte, NE (Cherokee Point Productions); and taste something of everything on the holiday goodies table. You can even visit and have your picture taken with Santa, who has promised to stop by on his return trip to the North Pole. And, you can register to win an electric fireplace and mantel that will be given away that afternoon.
The Winter Holiday Festival in Haigler is free admission. We want you to come, enjoy, and have a wonderful holiday experience. Attendees are invited to bring a food item for giving to the Dundy County Food Pantry. And, as for most of our community events at the Cornerstone Center, donations are always appreciated-- so the doors of the Center can remain open for our communities. We look forward to seeing you at the Winter Holiday Festival in Haigler on Sunday afternoon, December 28, 2014. Please come!

Haigler Winter Holiday Festival
The Winter Holiday Festival on December 28 promises to indeed be a
wonderful new tradition for our little village of Haigler. Do hope you all will
plan to attend--and if you have any holiday decorations, trees, led lights,
decor you no longer use; wouldn't you like to donate them to the Cornerstone
Center? The historical gymnasium will become a winter wonderland for this
festival.
Let LaNeta know if you have something.
Thanks- & Merry Christmas!

BIG SUCCESS FOR THE FIRST HAIGLER GUN SHOW AND CRAFT SHOW HELD LAST WEEKEND!
The first Haigler Gun Show and Craft Show held last
weekend, November 22 and 23, was a big success! Far exceeding the expectations
of the organizers of the event, the Cornerstone Center was filled with
attendees. How many people? Numbers were estimated to be over 600 for both
days. When the doors opened at 9 a.m., the lines were already forming. They
came from throughout the tri-state area of Kansas,
Colorado, and Nebraska to view the 38 display tables in the gymnasium, stage
area, and adjoining room for the Gun Show; and 34 display tables in the suites
and hallways for the Craft Show. Weather cooperated with a lovely 70 degree day
on Saturday; and though much cooler and windy on Sunday, the crowds still came.
Throughout
both days, a homemade canon was shot outside. Jim and Jerrie Wheaton of Haigler
did the honors of lighting the fuse. The canon was built by Jerrie's father,
Kenneth Johnston. Inside, many door prizes were given away; and the big drawing
of the day was for a Mossberg 20 gauge automatic shotgun. It was won by Linda
Seabolt of Benkelman.
The Cornerstone Center kitchen was certainly a busy place both days with homemade rolls and coffee for breakfast and chili, pies, and desserts for lunch and afternoon being served. At lest 35 pies were baked by local community volunteers. A big thank you to all the volunteers who worked hard to make this event happen.
So many requests were made to make the Shows an annual event, it looks like the second annual Haigler Gun Show and Craft Show is already on the calendar for next year--again being planned for the weekend before Thanksgiving- November 21 and 22, 2015. The Cornerstone Center and the Haigler Community Foundation will continue to host this annual event and invite you to mark your calendars now to make Haigler the center of your activities that weekend.
