Honorary Member of Haigler Fire Dept.

I don't remember the year that I was back vacationing in Haigler. The fire whistle blew, the fire truck heads west out of town on Hiway 34. I decided to follow. My brother, Lester, was driving the fire truck. I followed it to the Haigler Ranch Crossing where there was a train emitting some dark black smoke from the engines. A diesel compressor on the back of the diesel engine was burning pretty good. Well the cowling that surrounds the engine was pretty well buttoned down (needed tools for removal). Did you ever try to walk with diesel covered boots on a grated catwalk on the roof of a train after water was sprayed on it? Well, it's mighty slippery!! I proceeded with a fire hose to put water down the diesel exhaust pipe from the roof of the train.

Before I left Haigler, the town marshal, John Corder, presented me with an Honorary Lifetime Membership to the Frenchman Valley Firefighters with a badge. It was an honor for this presentation from the Haigler Fire Department.

I am sure support for the Haigler fund-raiser will go well for the Fire Dept. Firefighters and EMTs are a special, dedicated type of person that serves their communities!
