He was a good neighbor and my dad liked and respected him.

Happy Birthday to Leonard Rose
Leonard Rose and his family lived along the same road we lived on when I was growing up. We sometimes caught a ride partway home from school with him when he came to pick up Connie from school. I was in the eighth grade that year and Connie was in the first. I remember that he would come and get the skimmed milk that we saved in a 50 gallon barrel after we had separated the cream off. He would feed it to his pigs, I think. I also remember one awful day when he was rushed to the doctor after getting his hand caught in the corn picker. I believe he lost his thumb that day.
