Memories

As far as a story, the one that comes to mind immediately (though there are many) deals with Ercel Goodell and when he used to bring in Mexican Nationals to top his beets and every Saturday night he would bring them into town and then about midnight or 1 in the morning, he would go and round them all up with a shotgun put them back into the truck and take them back home.  One time  I was delivering potatoes to somebody's car way down north on main street and I ran into Ercel gethering up his Mexicans and I ask him why he carried a shotgun when he brought his guys into town.  His answer to me was "they know how to use a knife better than I do, but they don't want to mess with me when I have a gun".  What a change in times!!!
