The Old Opra House

Does anyone have pictures of the old Opra House that used to sit on the lot beside the Golden Inn is now?

I would be very interested in seeing a picture and hearing any stories you may have heard from your parents or the older generation.

What happened to it? Why was it torn down?

  1. The Haigler Opera House was where the Golden Inn is now. It seemed huge! When we were kids, we had a softball field just south of it. The only person who ever hit the ball over the opera house was Don Brown.
We never ventured very far into the big dark building, only where they had a projector and we picked up small pieces of old films.
My grandfather was the town marshall at one time, and he told of a family who was at a movie there, and went home leaving a child sleeping! It didn't take them long to learn what they had done, and they returned for him!
