Haigler Alumni Luncheon

WHERE IS HAIGLER?
Haigler is where------
Porter Avenue intersects Hwy. 34.
The 2 great river systems—the north fork of the Republican and the Arickaree merge.
Where Floyd Trembly would sell you a bag of groceries.
Bob Schorzman would fix your tv.
Milford Andres would cut your hair and—
Lloyd Crabtree would repair your car.
It is where—
Dick Bannister became a legend on the basketball court.
Bill McVey played guitar and—
Marie Sass played the violin.
It’s where Charlie and Glena Collicott delivered milk in a Model A and—
Their granddaughter Galena set a state record in the 50 yard dash.
Where, with one stop at Charlie Roach’s; you could arrange to get a well drilled, your windmill
fixed, buy a casket, and make your final arrangements.
It’s where Lester Adams kept your propane tank full all winter.
Where little Jimmy Trembly climbed to the top of the coop elevator in 15 minutes—and it took
the Haigler Fire Dept. the rest of the day to get him down.
It is where Dale Faylor, Hughie Wall, and Stan Zuege led the Haigler Colts Baseball team to
victory nearly every Sunday afternoon—
Where Dale Smith kept the schoolhouse clean; and
Ralph Oster kept the water running (but only native Haiglerites could drink it)
Haigler—that is where:
Neighbors are still neighbors.
Friends are real friends.
And some of the best people on earth went to school.
