Modern times have us spoiled. Just a flip of a switch -- Teflon skillets -- hot water from a tank for instant hot water. Oh, how nice!! YEAH!!
Remember the scraping of frost from windshields before we had vehicle garages and de-icer from a can? -- the cold car seats before the car heater could kick in?
My father-in-law remembers heating up bricks in an oven, putting them in burlap bags for a car heater when he drove on small little trips. (Minnesota) -- Seeing your own breath on those cold crisp mornings, tinges of frost on the toes, finger tips, ears and nose!
Yep, those were the days -- I think we were care-free. Remember the fond times of our lives that we could get into bed to give warmth to a bed and have the bed give warmth back on those cold winter mornings? But who kept the night fire going to keep the chill of the house down? How did we survive?
Is anybody reminiscing yet??
