Dictionary Sayings??

By Webster's definitions, I don't think these terms would fly, but we knew when we were being addressed what they meant. Vocabularies kinda sunk in, even if you did not know the precise name of the object. They are so funny to listen to in our era of time with the distinction of character it may have possessed.
  • Hand me the Thing-a-ma-jig
  • Hand me the What-ch-ma-call it
  • Hand me the Goom-ah-Hitchy
  • Oakie Doakie
  • Hey you!
  • How come?
  • How's come?
  • Won't mention the others as they may fall in the grey area as a little risque for the ear to hear!

    Hey there Dallas. Mom use to say "Cabbage on to this". Where this came from I don't know and never asked, I just knew it meant grab on to what-ever she wanted me to grab on to. I find myself using it once in awhile and the expression on some one's face is priceless, like, "where the heck did you come from".
