I remember popping popcorn in a covered iron skillet on top of the cookstove shaking back and forth with pot holders to keep from getting burned. Used lard spooned into the skillet for grease. Bought popcorn on the cob in a peck sack and shelled it by hand as we needed it. Had darned few "old maids" as we called the unpopped kernels.

Life was good and all was well. We were safe, innocent and knew no better.
More modern popcorn poppers came along with electric hot plates and a crank to turn. Then Hot air poppers entered the scene and, finally, corn in a bag for the nuker. I still love popcorn. Make mine with lots of butter and salty.

My sisters used to make carmel popcorn balls, also. They made fudge candy, too, and Ieven learned the recipe for the fudge candy.
