It seems like Dwight is really my brother because he has always been a part of our family. At least since he married my sister, Leah in 1963. I want to wish him a very happy birthday on July 30.
Dwight grew up in St. Francis, Kansas, the son of Clark and Anna Brewer and one of 4 boys, Wallace, Doug, Maurice (Barnhart) and Dwight. He went to high school there, graduating in 1959. He married Leah Gregory and worked for the Equity Co-Op for awhile before moving to Lincoln, Nebraska to attend Union College for a couple of years.
Dwight and Leah worked for Stan Smith of Lamar, Nebraska for awhile, then rented land south of Wray before going into partnership with Leah's parents, Rich and Alice Gregory, on the farm southeast of Haigler. They bought the farm and continued farming there until 1985 when they sold it to Steve and Tammy Workman and followed Rich and Alice to Tucson, Arizona. Dwight worked for Westcap Capacitors and Leah obtained her Real Estate license. They put their two girls through college and have been "helping" raise their 5 grandchildren. Dwight now maintains their rental properties and Leah is gearing down her real estate practice so they can retire and enjoy their St. Francis "playhouse" more than the few weeks in the summer that they spend there now.
Happy Birthday Dwight, I hope you have a wonderful day!
