Happy Birthday, Leone Carlson!

Happy Birthday to Leone Carlson
She lives where it is warm and sunny
So I hope this day brought her loads of fun
Because sitting here in the cold is NOT funny!

She was born on Grandma's Birthday
So I was always jealous
Cause everyone would always say
She's so lucky - she'll become famous

She is loved by all who know her
and respected by everyone
I'm sure you would concur
If her friendship is your fortune

So here's the warmest wish of all
because I love her best
Let's hope this doesn't cause a brawl
because this is no jest.

Okay!!! so I'm not a poet, but wanted to wish my sister the best birthday ever!

Sherri G.

On Foot Again!

Mr. and Mrs. Vic Stasser returned from Denver last Tuesday with a '36 Nash, a Ford pickup and a motorcycle, and now, as Mr. Stasser put it, “they are on foot again,” as they almost immediately sold the Nash to John Zweygardt; the pickup to Charlie Vanderford and the motorcycle to Gerald Myer.

Margaret Will

I did talk to Margaret this morning ...

When they left Haigler they moved to Harvard. She finished high school then went on to college, where she got her teacher's degree. If she remembered right, she came back and taught school in district 42 for 3 years. There were 6 kids in the family, and all except George and herself have passed on. George is not well at all. And the rest of them died of Alzheimer's. Margaret has a son and daughter who live close by her. She has Alzheimer's also, and it was hard for her to remember. It was fun talking about things we did way back when, as we are both the same age and went to school District 42 at the same time.

Thanks to Dallas for giving me the information.

I am sending you a picture of Margaret that she sent to my mom, Mildred Pennell, years ago.

Larry Collins doing well

We received word that Larry Collins is doing well after bypass surgery and is coming home today.

Larry, we wish you a speedy recovery.

Happy Birthday, Sharna

Sharna Del Fisher Richardson was born on January 15, 1959.

NOW, won't she be thrilled that I told you all how old she is? I was 19 when "we" (Owney and Floy) chose her. She was 6 months old and I was just home from my first year of college. I had the privilege of spending most of the summer helping "us" all get used to our new baby daughter/cousin. She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen.

She has always been very special to our family.

When you give birth to a child, you don't have a choice, but when you are adopted you are CHOSEN. Like Christ has chosen us to be in His family. This isn't meant to be a sermon, but a very special tribute to our very special cousin.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SHARNA

We Love you very much - Leah

Sharna,
Happy Birthday!!

I remember you from the day "we" got you, too... Here is a picture of "Me, You and Eunice" Probably Thanksgiving, 1959.

A Question from Gene Pennell

Does anyone remember a family named Wells that lived in the Haigler area during the 1940s & 1950s?

This question came from Gene Pennell:
...would you accidentaly know a family named Wells?

There was 3 boys and 3 girls that I know. And I think the mother was a school teacher when I was going to school. The oldest daughter's name was Margaret went to college either in Lincoln or Hastings. Margaret would be 80 years old now. I do know the names of all the boys, but there were Albert, Howard, and George.

I would like to get in touch with Margaret as she was writing and going to Benkelman to see my mother.

So, I hope that you or someone can find out for me. ..just thought that you might per chance know the family.

Happy New Year

I hope your new year has started out well. I have been on vacation and find that I get less done than when I'm working, so I'm going back to work tomorrow. Maybe I can get back into my routine of sitting down at the computer every day to update the sites I care for.

My daughter had pneumonia, and the doctor told her she had to "GO TO BED" or to the hospital. She chose to stay in bed, (a HARD thing for her to do)so I had fun playing with my grand kids and helping her out. Her husband was having a light week, so was home to help most of the time.

My son brought his 5 children for a visit before Christmas, so we had a great time together.

I planned to drive to Arizona to visit family there, but at the last minute changed my mind because of the weather that was going on at the time.

I have had a restful and sane holiday and am refreshed and ready for the next couple of months of work and cold weather.

I hope 2009 will be a good year for you.
-- Sherri
