Sympathy for Laurene's Family

We received the sad news today that Laurene (Crabtree) Rohn was killed in a car accident near Littleton, Colorado. She had recently sold her home in St. Francis and had already moved to New Mexico. She was in St. Frances on Friday to complete the paperwork for the sale of her home and was on her way to Denver. Her grand-daughter was with her, but was not seriously injured.

Laurene's parents were Kenneth (KC) Crabtree and Adah Wall.

Our sympathy goes out to Laurene's family and her brothers Larry and Jerry Crabtree and their families.

A Memorial Service in Lawrence Kansas

  2. I grew up with she and her brothers in the SouthFork community and have fond memories of the family. I saw her this last summer at my Mother's 90th birthday party and she always had a smile. I am so sorry that she has left us.

  4. Laurene, was my cousin, our grandmother's
were half sister's on the Harvey side. I am
so sadden to hear of Laurene's death. I do
not think the last few years in St. Francis,
that she was that happy. She wanted to be
close to her family. Jerry and Larry, if you
read this you both have my deepest sympathy.

  5. We have mixed emotions since Laurene's accident. We are human and miss her and wish she were still with us but at the same time we rejoice knowing she is with her Heavenly Father in Heaven. Laurene's Christian witness was evident and her life touched many spiritually. She is carefree now and enjoying the beauties only Christ can provide. We pray her life will result in many chantged lives for eternity. Her untimely death reminds us how precious and uncertain life can be. We pray her family will be surrounded by the peace and love only Christ can give. Matthew 11:28

  6. Thank you all for all your cards and letters and kind thoughts here. I will be traveling to Albququerque later this month to help my sister Teresa empty mom's new apartment there. I will take the big bag of cards there for her to read as well.

Please especially keep her family in your thoughts and prayers. It was her daughter that was involved in the accident and although she was not seriously injured, she is seriously hurting.

  7. I think my last post must have been confusing because the story was edited to say that her daughter was in the accident, whereas the first time I read it it said grand daughter, which was correct. It was not Laurene's daughter, it was Teresa's daughter (Laurene's granddaughter Maggie). Sorry to confuse anyone.

  8. Thanks, Sherry, for the clarification. I heard so many different versions that I was trying to put accurate information in the note. I went back and changed it back to "grand-daughter".

I sincerely hope you are all doing okay. I can't even imagine what you are dealing with. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Even though my mom and your grandfather, KC Crabtree, were close when they were younger, I didn't get to meet Laurene until a couple of years ago. I enjoyed visiting with her so much. She spent the whole day with our family back in May on Memorial Day when we all got together. She enjoyed riding around town in my sister's convertible. I am sad that I won't have a chance to know her better.

My prayers and thoughts are with you as you continue to settle her affairs.
