If you have ever searched for information about your ancestors to learn about your family history and record your findings in your genealogy book or computer database, you will appreciate the Nebraska Gravestone Project. Volunteers from all over the state have been taking pictures of every gravestone in every cemetery in the state of Nebraska. This time Dundy County has not been left out due to the hard work and concentrated efforts of a Benkelman resident, Bill Hardwick.
Bill has located every cemetery in the county and taken photos of every stone in them. He has compiled and maintains accurate and up-to-date lists of the cemeteries, and has spent many hours transcribing obituaries from the county that have been collected through the years.
Also thanks to Betty Deyle, Dee Fries and many other county residents our history is being preserved through the Dundy County Museum and the Dundy County Historical Society.

Hi! I'm Kermit B. Karns of Imperial NE. Bill Hardwick has just completed the posting of the photos that I took of the Mt Hope Cemetery at Imperial - some 2700 of them. He also completed posting of tombstones by Laura Lou Kelly of the Lakeview Cemetery at Champion NE. Bill has photos of the Wauneta Riverside Cemetery that he will post when he can get to it.
