Some of you have heard about it, but thought I would tell your what we saw and heard today. We were taking some recycling items to the recycle place yesterday and saw this really huge cloud of smoke over toward the airport - but decided it was at the "Good Samaritan Village" the local nursing/retirement home here in town. We found out that it was a HUGE fire that broke out in the attic of the home. They had to evacuate all 48 residents. Our good friends - Willard Zweygardt, Alvin Cox, Bill and Leone Krien and lots of other people that we know live there. They were evacuated to the High School Gym, and they relocated to homes in Wray, Goodland, Atwood, Benkelman and Sharon Springs! All the doctors and nurses in the area quickly went to help - as well as LOTS AND LOTS of neighborhood residents.
Very exciting event for our little town.....
