Yes, it is time once again to welcome home all Haigler Alumni, friends, and community to the Alumni/Memorial weekend planned events. Hoping you will be able to attend some, if not all, of the following activities:
On Saturday, May 24, 9a.m.-3 p.m. MDT there will be Haigler Village Wide Garage Sales. If you are interested in being a site, please contact LaNeta at 297-3226. Maps will be available at the station and the Country Cafe.
The Cornerstone Center for Community Service will be celebrating its first anniversary. Open house, with cookies and coffee, will be from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The Sunshine Thrift will be offering 50% off all merchandise, and the mini-mall has many specials. The library and open rec are also open. Local photographer, Bill Coe of Max has his auto collection photos on display. Haigler Alumni are welcome to gather and visit in any of the suites at the Center. Self-guided facility tours are also available.
Saturday evening following the Dundy County/Stratton Alumni Banquet in Benkelman, there will be a live dance band at the Cornerstone Center Gymnasium playing all of your favorite music- for listening and dancing (8-11 p.m.). Admission is free. Food, wine, and beer will be available.
Sunday, May 24 , at 12 noon is the traditional pot luck luncheon at the Haigler Legion Building on main street. The 50th year class of 1965 will be hosting this event. Alumni, friends, and community are invited. Following the luncheon and program, the Haigler Museums will be open for your viewing. New items have been added since last year; and of special note is the new look of the Cornerstone Museum and the Station along Highway 34. "The Station" continues to be a work in process and will eventually have the look of 'an old Conoco gas station.' And, at 4 p.m. at the Haigler Methodist Church, Karen Harford will be giving a presentation on her travels to Egypt and Jordon. Karen's presentation is hosted by Nancy Freehling and Barbara Harris.
Monday, May 25, Memorial Day services will be held at the Haigler Cemetery at 10 a.m. Updates on the directory will have been made, and a new concrete cemetery bench will grace the area in front of the directory. The bench has been donated by one of our Haigler Alumni--who at this time wishes to remain anonymous.
