Violet Relph was working the day I visited Haigler. She had a friendly smile and hug for Karen and I when we walked into The Family Market on Friday. It was fun visiting with her and listening to her tell about the newspaper office that used to be located just north of the hardware store. She remembers spending time watching the printers prepare and print the paper on the big old printing presses. It was a fun memory of hers.
She also told about Buck Ryan having a liquor store in that same building and he let the kids go in the basement to roller skate on the big cement floor down there.
Her parents only lived 8 miles from town, but in those days, you didn't just run to town every day, so she stayed in town to go to school.
What a friendly, loving person Violet is. We had a wonderful time visiting with her!
